ANDHRA PRADESH STORY 2. AP Reorganisation Act & General Election 2014
The bill has now become an Act, a committee has been allocated
to work on this and offer the Centre keynotes to consider while creating the
new state from the former. Meanwhile the proceedings are happening some of the
andhrites and their leaders couldn’t digest what has happened and some of them haven’t
come out of it yet. There were moments where people saying that this is a good
opportunity for both the states to decentralize development to ignite the hopes
of the common populace. The committee took their time and have come up with fair
propositions for both the states so that there will no serious conflict arising.
Some of the important points were to have Hyderabad as the
capital for both states till June’24, division of assets and debts to both of
the states, economic subsidiaries for the residual support of Andhra Pradesh.
Regarding the Economic support, the congress government has said that AP will
be given Special category status and the then opposition party said that Andhra
needs to have it for 10 years in order to catchup with Telangana. Since
Elections were nearby both of them ushered promises which were not fulfilled
but chided away by saying reasons which the party in power BJP can by-pass if
it wanted to it.
One might have the doubt why didn’t the congress govt has
not put it up in the bill, it’s because they wanted to have it done as soon as
possible due to the upcoming general elections also they know that now it’s
hard for them to gain power for the third time in a row and to not lose their
presence they used the Special category status as their primary promise to have
their hold on Andhra. But BJP has done their campaign so good that people believed
that they would, with Mr.CBN in alliance with the BJP. The ground survey reports
have also stated the mood of the public that most of them were unhappy with Congress’s
actions.
While during the Election campaign’s Chandra babu has said
that if they will come into power they will make Vijayawada-Guntur region as
the capital. If we go back to history and see Vijayawada was also the capital
of Andhra state for a brief while prior the formation of Andhra Pradesh in 1956,
which is something unaccepted why? Even though the Govt. has a say in deciding
where a capital will be it, saying that a region will be made capital will be seen
as opportunistic and also that region consists of Kamma’s who are major land-owning
community present there and that is also the community Mr. Naidu belongs. There
were comments that this will become like another Hyderabad with all the
investments concentrated within that region which were given to the loyalists
of the Mr. Naidu. Even the committee which drafted the Reorganisation act gave
it a third priority and said a capital at Donakonda would be the most ideal one.
But the people of the region has welcomed the decision and rallies have been
done supporting Mr. Naidu.
Elections have concluded the TDP govt in coalition with BJP
has formed the government with 100+ seats and the first timer YSRCP which was led
by the son of former CM of united AP Mr. Rajasekhar Reddy, JaganMohan Reddy
having won more than 65+. Meanwhile in Telangana TRS which have played a key
role in getting Telangana have formed the government. Mr. KCR was once a close
aid of CBN has done something which shocked both the states, a videotape has
been released with Revanth Reddy who was then a key TDP member in Telangana has
been caught giving money to gather support for their party in the MLC elections
and a voice recording of Mr. Naidu with that same person has been put out and a
case has been filed against Mr. Revanth Reddy. KCR knows the politics of Mr. Naidu
also said that Most of his party members were once in TDP with the help of his
loyalists Babu can try to meddle in Telangana politics he did what he can to
get rid of his presence in Telangana and were caught off the hook with the Vote
for Note Scam. Naidu within a few months have shifted his base emptying the
shared offices in hyd as per the Act until a permanent working capital has been
built. Even CBN can put a case on the TRS chief for phone tapping on a person
who is a Chief Minister of a State. They both know what can unfold so they didn’t
dragged it from there.
Temporary office buildings have been built for administrations
along with the works going on for the permanent office spaces in the Capital
Region. In 2015 a cyclone has stuck the northern
part of Andhra dilapidating the situation in Visakhapatnam, a major port city
on the India’s east coast. The government definitely did a commendable job in resurrecting
the City. All this has actually gave the people a Hope that we have survived a fatal
natural disaster and building a fully functional state isn’t an impossible feat
to do with determination and perseverance with only shortage in required Funds.
The Government at the centre has Revised the 14th
financial commission and said that it can’t give the newly formed state what
was promised to them, Special Category Status.
